General Data Protection Regulation
As part of our on going commitment to Data Security we are addressing the requirements of GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). These apply to all local authorities including Town and Parish Councils from May 2018 and will repeal the Data Protection Act 1998.
The new Regulation aims to create Data Protection by design and includes a new accountability requirement. This means that councils will have to show how they comply with six main principles. It will also require councils to appoint a Data Protection Officer (DPO).
In conjunction with our already highly secure data hosting service, we have developed a support package to help Town and Parish Councils meet the requirements of GDPR.
